Matt Law

Operator, adviser and non-executive director. Twenty years across venture, emerging technology and global consultancy, now working independently through Sciuridae Labs.

Matt Law, founder of Sciuridae Labs

What I do

I work with founders and funds on commercial and operating strategy: from market positioning and go-to-market through to partnership structure, operating model and the systems that let a company scale without you in every meeting.

Most of my career has been spent making complicated organisations work. I've scaled organisations from early stage to maturity: growing a global consultancy from 26 to 300 people with a $34M P&L across three territories, and leading commercial strategy (product, partnerships and marketing) across 370+ portfolio companies as COO and later CCO at Outlier Ventures, Europe's most active dedicated emerging-technology investor and accelerator. I'm also a non-executive director of Brave Bison PLC, an AIM-listed technology group.

I now work independently: fractional strategy and operations support, alongside board roles. Typical engagements: building or repairing an operating model, structuring commercial terms and partnerships, getting a company ready for institutional investment, building a platform or founder-support function inside a fund, and coaching leadership teams through the transition from founder-led to managed growth.

I also work as an executive coach, qualified at Henley Business School. Most of the value in this work is understanding what someone actually needs, as opposed to what they came in asking for.

Current focus: commercial strategy, go-to-market execution and operating model design, particularly across AI, fintech, developer tools and product-led growth.
